We are nearing the mid point of the 3rd quarter. Where has this year gone? I have really enjoyed getting used to the students having their tablets. We have quickly become an almost paperless class, which is one of my goals! One of the things I like most about having the tablets, is my ability to more accurately assess my students. Through some applications that provide instant feedback, I am able to differentiate my instruction more easily, which is a huge advantage!
Per suggestion of the Wake County CTE department (the department my class falls under), I have decided to start introducing some activities that sharpen math and literacy skills. On the math side, I have started using Ken Ken Puzzles to help them work on their problem solving skills, while also being able to brush up on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Please encourage your student to work on these at home. If you enjoy puzzles, you may like doing them yourself!

There are videos on YouTube that explain how to solve the puzzles.
The first project the students are going to do, or are currently doing is a multimedia project. They are making paper slide videos, to educate their classmates about some basic technological concepts, and vocabulary.
When the paper slide videos are complete, they will be posting them on Youtube, under the Carroll Coders page.
